After several nights with temperatures staying above freezing, seeds
that did NOT germinate after 3 months of chilling indoors, set out in
the cold frame in December, have started to germinate <hooray...> Some
crosses definitely need more than 3 months chill in the fridge!
The tallest of the older seedlings that germinated before December are
now approaching 4 inches tall and have 4 leaves. These are much to
small to survive in my normal garden conditions. I was surprised to
read that others transplant at that size.
Christian - several people have posted photos of small iris seedlings on
iris photos - go to the link below and try searching for <seedlings>.
Also, I think some folks have photos of germinating seedlings on their
webpages.
I didn't know that your "squeezing toilet paper" post was about seed
germination. At this time of year, I only read some posts, & the
subject line helps me figure out which ones to read.
