People who have squirrels eating up their irises have my sympathy. My
problem is birds. The beautiful red-purple Aril bred, Kalifa's Robe was
the first to open and the first to be eaten. Last year someone said a
drop of Lindane in the center of the flower would keep away birds. Not
being able to find Lindane, I used Malathion and after the first few
flowers, didn't have anymore trouble for the whole season. It isn't
working now. I doctored the remainder of Kalifa's Robe blossoms with
Malathion and they just got eaten up. Any suggestions other than shot
guns would be appreciated.
