In as much as our climates are similar, Margie, I guess there are some
notable differences.  I grew Oyez here in Phoenix for years and it performed
wonderfully.  The last year I had them in pots being stored over at my
mother's house and some cat used it as a cat box so many times that it
finally died.  However, in the ground and away from cats, the variety did
well.  In addition, Shepard's Iris Garden grew and sold Oyez for many years
before they cut back their business.  It always performed beautifully for
them too.
