Hi Lorraine,

First, determine for certain whether or not it is a sport. The best way to
go about this is to mark the rhizome with permanent marker or paint. As soon
as possible, dig the entire clump and gently wash away the dirt so you can
see who is attached. Note any rhizomes that didn't put out a bloom.

Whether or not it is attached to ND it's a good idea to grow out the newbie
along side ND for at least a season to compare and be sure it's stable.
Color can change temporarily for any number of reasons including damage to
stem or rhizome. If it is a true (and stable) sport, you'll find out when
the clumps bloom.
