Re: HYB: sprouts


Outdoor overwintered seeds here were just starting to sprout last week,
without mulch.  I brought them indoors the night it got really cold
(their first visit indoors) just to be on the safe side.

So that's about the same timing as yours, Betty, I think.

Might be cultivar differences affecting timing of germination.  Didn't
somebody say they thought the early bloomers germinated earliest in the
spring?

About a dozen or so of the indoor/outdoor experiments were big enough to
line out last week under plant bed covers.  A lot more are probably big
enough if I can get up the energy to plant them.  More germinating now
that probably won't be big enough before hot dry weather gets here.
