Re: List of names

Thanks Sandy,

I had an iris "OKLAHOMA SUNSET" that I acquired from my first true
irisarian in 1953. I've always wondered why I could find no information on
it as it was very unique. Over the years I lost it and have looked for it
several times but could find no reference. The only description I had was
my own - never found it in a catalog.

This is the description I gave it: Yellow throat & beard, purple falls
with edges splashed unevenly with lavender. Lavender standards.

I'm sure it was named by a local yocal and never registered but would love
to have a start of it again as it was different from any of my other iris.

It depends.

There is a list of registered named iris - non-bulbous forms at any rate.
It is maintained by the American Iris Society.-----------

However you did say 'named'. There are a large number of named varieties
that are not registered - certain extremely large garden centres simply
don't care.

So... to the best of my knowledge there is no list of all named varieties.

Regards,

Sandy Ives (on the road somewhere, but not in Ottawa today)
