RE:Genetics- Swertii and aplhylla

Chuck, I call your attention to a post in that part of the SWERTI set of
threads tagged "RE: Hyb-sweerti" where the information is set forth that there
are two different lists of chromosome counts in *Garden Irises." The count
you note of 38 for "Sweetseri" appears in the list of garden varieties. There
is another list--of iris species.

Included in the species list is a chromosome count for *I. swertii* of 24.
SWERTI is a vanilla-flavored diploid. Just what cv "Sweetseri" is remains
unexplained.

The post also notes a count cited in WOI [=TWOI] of 38 chromosomes for another
Eupogon--a clone of *astrachanica.*
