I have not bloomed nor attempted any such crosses as you mention so certainly 
must defer to your speculation/judgement or that of others.

While I do not know that this is germane to the issue, distorted blooms, poly 
tepaled, poly sepaled, extra sepals, and/or extra tepals in daylilies blooms 
are fairly common in crosses (both dips and tets). I have historically 
attributed the phenomenon to external environmental forces rather than genetic 
propensity in instances where there is not a high degree of consistent bloom 
distortion.

I may need to reexamine my thinkin'.
