How about a sponge mop on a long handle? Never tried one. They used to make a waxed bar to drag behind a riding mower to apply Weed-Be-Gone.

It has been so windy every time the sun has come out this winter, that I haven't been able to apply the usual Roundup between iris rows. Some of you have mentioned using paint brushes and cotton or terry cloth gloves over rubber gloves to apply Roundup and other herbicides. That's not practical for the long rows of irises I grow. I tried a paint pad on a long handle today, dipping it in a plastic box full of Roundup solution. The particular paint pad I tried was too floppy, & I got frustrated with how long it took to apply. I may try taping a wide roofing brush to a handle and see how that works. A roller might work, especially one of the sponge types, but I'm afraid it will spatter Roundup, based on experience with painting walls and being spattered. Other suggestions, experiences? - Linda Mann east Tennessee USA zone 7/8 East Tennessee Iris Society <http://www.korrnet.org/etis> American Iris Society web site <http://www.irises.org> talk archives: <http://www.hort.net/lists/iris-talk/> photos archives: <http://www.hort.net/lists/iris-photos/> online R&I <http://www.irisregister.com> --------------------------------------------------------------------- To sign-off this list, send email to majordomo@hort.net with the message text UNSUBSCRIBE IRIS
