Re: Tough Luminatas

I've never seen any of his flowers. I have not had much trouble with any of
Ghio's luminatas, and I can't imagine a more impressive looking selection than
his luminatas and "fancy plicatas"; lots of fun breeding with those. I don't
really have much room for seedlings, so mine all get "Darwinized" pretty
heavily before they even get a chance to bloom Sitting in pots on the patio
for 2-3 years they get crowded, rot-tested, and drought tested. The survivors
are a proven lot by that point; only the flowers remain to be seen. Of
course, the ugly mutts usually turn out to be the toughest.

John Reed - Have you tried growing any of Vince Christopherson's luminatas?
He hybridizes some tough cookies. He is very scientific about his approach
and researches every cross. His operation is south of Dallas Texas and
  certainly has adverse conditions.
