Watching some early seedlings come in. My Decipher x Skipalong row is always
fun to watch. I flagged the best of a number of well-formed and
attractively-patterned ones last year, and it will soon be opening to
(hopefully) reinforce my opinion. One lovely has striking contrast and
translucent marbled standards; that one is also a "saver". most of my Double
Dribble seedlings are too ordinary, or patterned in sort of a messy zonal
look. The one I want to see is in a 5-gallon pot and is slowly-slowly
producing two massive(?) stalks: Tuscan Villa x Secret Service. I only had 3
seeds, and only one seems to have survived; both stalks are on fans from the
same seedling.
My bloom season is just starting. Notables: Epicenter opened a first (of 50)
stalks yesterday, Wearing Rubies is nice, Revere and Ethereal voices will open
in a few more days, and Lip Service and Double Click are also sending up
stalks. And lots and lots of first-time seedlings!
