Hello,
I have just discovered this discussion group through the AIS website.
I am relatively new to collecting Iris. My collecting is focused solely on TB
iris at the moment, but I have also acquired the occasional BB and MED iris
that have caught my attention. At the moment, I have acquired slightly more
than 200 different TB Iris over the last 6 years of collecting.
My Question:
I am having difficulty identifying a new purchase of TB Amsterdam at a local
nursery last Fall. As I catalog all my acquisitions, I try to maintain an
accurate description of every purchase. I have been having great difficulty
finding a listing for this particular Iris in reference to who the hybridizer
is and the year of its release. From it's overall look it appears to be a
Historic TB variety. In my search through listed historic Iris at different
growers, I came across a similar Iris listed as TB Vice Regal (Groff '41)
Historic; it appeared to be identical in the photo. Could someone please tell
me if there actually is a TB Amsterdam registered, the hybridizer and year? I
am wondering if my iris is one which has lost it's identity over the years and
has just been given a name. I am attaching a picture of TB Amsterdam below,
unfortunately it isn't perfect, I will try to get a digital picture when it
blooms this year.
Thanks,
Warren
