Hello, Warren, and welcome to this list. I am sure you
will find that there are many iris enthusiasts here
who will be glad to respond to your questions to the
best of their (often quite impressive) ability!
There is no record of any rhizomatous iris named
AMSTERDAM to be found in any of the AIS Checklists
through 1999. These Checklists are the official
worldwide repository for the names and descriptions of
rhizomatous irises (other arrangements apply to
bulbous irises). It appears that the designation under
which you received this iris is completely unofficial
and arbitrary, which unfortunately is not all that
uncommon an occurrence.
