I don't usually soak mine at all when I plant them out over the
winter. We usually have plenty of moisture over the winter and
throughout the spring. I did let my pots get too dry last spring
and didn't get very good germination- either that or it got too
warm too quickly here and we had a very short window of ideal
germination conditions.
Christian, the seeds did stay near the top, but when they were
all tied together in the nylons with the tags they were heavy
enough to stay below the surface.
I should probably hope for terrible germination this spring too-
I could easily have 5000+ if those 2nd year pots have germination
rates as high as most of the second year pots did last year.
Well, the experiment seeds are getting some cold today. Despite
my protests they may be under 14" of snow by morning. Hey isn't
today supposed to be the first day of spring????
