Now, come on! Ya'll know you'll slip in an early cross or two if you get
the chance! I have visions of all these people bent over tables loaded with
blooming plants under grow light!! Am I spending too much time on the Daylily
sites?? <vbg>

I'm the only one anxious for long days in the garden with the sun at my
back?

Those little green sprouts are my indicator that spring is really on the
way! Even if it's on a very cold morning! Not bringing them indoors! Fighting
with my cat is not HIGH on my "to do" list! We're both mellow and I'd like
it to stay that way!

Noticed on Monday that the homestead daffodils are starting to bloom. I
planted a wide variety of crocus, daffodils and hyacinths in the fall 2003, and
they are beautiful when they bloom, but none of them are as early as those
abandoned rows of daffs.

It's a beautiful day! Outside in the irises soon!

On point: in my experience, form is about as variable as other
characteristics! As I've mentioned before, I got better form with IMMORTALITY when I use
it as the pollen parent. I've had really good luck with form when I use PINK
ATTRACTION as the pollen parent. I've not compared enough reverse crosses to
extrapolate that into any type of theory. I'm not willing to contribute
time and space on seedlings with PA as the pod parent.

I've not been able to observe a difference in rebloom % in seedlings based
on pod vs pollen parents. It may be there but I've not seen it. My general
observation indicates better form when using the better form as pod parent.
Although my crosses of EARL OF ESSEX X HOT STREAK and the reverse did not give
any obvious differences. Both gave rebloom and pretty blooms! I made the
reverse cross looking for better height, but the move out here improved height
on existing seedlings. Different soil, new soil, or better soil.

Yes, there are some that give good form on a regular basis. Catalogs are
still my favorite research tool!
