No, it's not you. Or maybe it is sometimes ;-)They've been pretty squirrely (sp?) for quite a while. I send notes to Chris every time I try to use the search feature & it doesn't work right. He must be busy doing other things. At least the single word searches seem to still work and the index has been working for a long time. The index lets you look things up by month & also links the search results to the actual messages. Every now and then, that used to get out of whack, but it's been ok for several years.
Latest peculiarities are that the Boolean <and> feature doesn't work right (or at least it hasn't for anything I've tried lately), and today, it is sometimes saying (for example) that it found 7 results, but shows 50 (max). Once it said it found 0 results, but still showed 50, and the ones I looked at did contain the stuff I was searching for.
Works best just searching for a single word, sometimes works right for a string of words, but not always.
When the AND feature was working, it was still a little frustrating because it included references (i.e., next & last in thread & date) so included a lot of posts that weren't relevant.
But thank goodness it's there and works as well as it does!! I dread the day if/when it disappears.
Thanks again, John and Chris (and your predecessors) for making it exist!<I thought the problems with the archives were the result of my inept attempts. Betty>
