My first two jobs - the first for 6 months looking at fern sporangia (University of Tennessee), the second for a year looking at mouse chromosomes (Biology Division, Oak Ridge Natnl Lab). So long ago, I barely remember what we were doing, but I know the microscopes we had at the Lab was orders of magnitude better, easier to get good counts & document abnormalities. hmm.. why in the world were we drawing by hand in the 1968? Did that predate cameras attached to microscopes?? I feel like such a fossil!
