Re: spurias in the rot zone

the person who grows spurias at the university of tennessee in knoxville was
not at our meeting last night.  Bill Greise, a hybridizer who commutes from
kentucky to our meetings, has experience with spurias and i got the
impression he treats them pretty much like siberians - no mulch.  he says he
hasn't had any problems with rot but also said they don't have as much rain
up in the lexington area as we do. 

the spurias at UT knoxville are in a mixed planting with  other beardless
iris and they all seem to be doing fine and look like they are all grown the
same way.
