Along the same lines as Bill Smot's problem ...
I have two orders from last year that never arrived: one from Abbey
Gardens and one from Adamgrove. I called Abbey at least three times
and wrote two letters -- I know that Nancy is very sick, but my order
was ignored long before that happened. I was not able to call Adamgrove
as they do not publish their phone number, but I've written three times.
I finally sent both Abbey and Adamgrove registered letters, return receipt
requested so I could be sure that they got them. Still no refund.
I'm about to complain to the U.S. Postmaster and the Attorneys General
of my state and the states where these people do business. I believe
that sending out a catalogue, getting a check for an order through the
mail and then not sending anything must constitute some kind of fraud --
since the U.S. mails are involved, I suspect that mail fraud might be it.
I know that AIS cannot be responsible for the behavior of those who
advertise in the Bulletin, however, it seems to me that once they are
made aware of problems, they should refuse to accept further advertising
from those who refuse to fix these problems. I'm about to write to Terry
Aitken (the new Bulletin editor as of July) and suggest something of the
sort.
