re: aquatic voles


kay - do you have muskrats?  if you can ever identify the pest, maybe you can
plant something it will like better and fill up on something other than your
favorite iris.  how about bog lemmings or jumping mice?  they like wetlands,
but i have no idea what they eat, except it must be plant parts of some sort.
 the jumping mice are supposed to sort of hibernate though.... 

maybe you need to get scuba gear for a cat!  or a water loving mouse catching
dog - my golden retriever would love to help you out. he is trained ot only
dig moles and voles up to the edge of the iris beds.
