My best results with alfalfa pellets have been achieved when I mix them into
the soil wihen I redo the iris beds. In one bed I tried doing half that way,
and then put the alfalfa pellets around the irises in the other half and
worked in the soil. The half which had the pellets mixed in the soil before
planting showed far better results...you could readily see the difference in
the two parts of the bed. But even the poor part of the bed was performing
better than beds where I did not use the pellets. Clarence Mahan
