Besides the Dykes, the other ballot issue that makes me feel uneasy is the
gigantic and increasing number of TB introductions each year. In some of the
smaller classes that I know, I have at least seen if not grown just about
everything on the ballot, but of the TBs there are pages and pages of names
where I've heard of well less than half. And while I thought I did ok at going
to conventions and seeing other gardens, I have never used nearly the number
of votes that are allowed for TBs.
Are others feeling that way too? I don't have a good solution for it, and
I also feel sympathy for the small breeder who is doing quality work and
trying to get it recognized. Maybe some sort of regional primary system
could help to sort them out.
