Jim: I agree that the ballot is a formidable instrument these days. But,
like you, I don't have a better idea, so I don't complain (I'm of the ...part
of the problem or part of the solution school). I don't venture an opinion
on an iris that I don't have intimate knowlege of - that being either growing
it in my own tiny garden, or growing in one of the gardens that I haunt. So
this means that the HM catagory is left pretty blank. I do buy several
introductions each year - but there's no way to make a dent in that truckload
of cultivars.
I'm just thankful that I'm not a little known hybridizer trying to get
recognized.
