Thanks to all for the info. It was as I expected. It is getting warm here
and my patience goes in inverse proportion with the temperature. I will
wait and then bring them to their new home. I am into simple bearded
irises, and a lot of the tall siberian and japanese varieties. I have had
good luck leaving all in the ground here in central/east Texas. I have some
bearded ones from a neighbor who's grandma planted them around the turn of
the century- they were VERY crowded and at surface level, they are doing
very well, tho I know they will not bloom for a coupla years now. I tried
"rock irises", got a few small purple (is there any other color???) blooms.
They bloomed and faded FAST, with the crocuses.
Thanks again,
