In a message dated 96-03-16 19:18:06 EST, you write:

Bearded.

At the Fall Board meeting of the AIS, this issue was discussed but no action
was taken. There is a committee studying it. I have printed out Lowell's
entire message, and if others have comments on this issue, I will print such
comments out also, and then make sure that all of the Board members have your
comments before the Board meeting in Sacramento.
As a judge, I have voted for a TB for the Dykes from time to time, e.g.
JESSE'S SONG, when I thought it truly deserved. But I have voted for
Siberians (PINK HAZE), MTBs (ROSEMARY'S DREAM, BUMBLEBEE DEELITE), and even a
spuria (SON OF SUN), as well as several other types. It certainly is
unfortunate when an iris with one or more serious faults gets awarded the
Dykes (or even an AM for that matter!) I do not know how I will vote this
year, but I do consider BEFORE THE STORM an excellent iris. If it wins this
year, which I agree with Lowell, is likely, at least I won't be in vehement
disagreement....as I have at times in the past. In any event, if you have
comments on Lowell's remarks, let's have them! Clarence Mahan
