Kathy, my suggestion is to ask Shirley Pope, John and Evelyn White, and Dr.
Warren Hazelton for this advice (all of their gardens are lovely, too).
Interesting aside, are you aware that the route you probably will be
taken...and I assume it roughly parallels the old Erie Canal....is called
"the burned over district" in American history? Do you know why?
Even if you do, I'll tell you. It is because of the great many religious
sects and evangelical "burnings" that arose and swept through this region in
the early 1800's. Speaking of which, a stop at Onieda to buy silver is
