Greetings,
Would someone be so kind as to offer some ideas about the best time to start
spraying bearded irises when the season is as advanced as this seems to be?
I know the received wisdom is to spray the first time when new growth is six
inches tall, and mine are approaching this rapidly, but it is also March 2.
Weather is very warm and moist, and this is predicted to continue through
the week. Is there an indicator plant that signals the best time to start? I
know the bit about spraying when the tulips bloom, but this doesn't satisfy
me as the things bloom over a period of six weeks hereabouts. I am concerned
about borer, not aphids, which are under control.
I have not had borer yet, but I have evergreens, which I am told attract the
moth, and borer has been found sporatically within five miles of here. I use
Cygon 2e.
Thank you.
