The best method I know for repelling squirrels is to offer them something
they like better. Put up a sunflower seed station. This time of year
they're hard-pressed for the high-fat foods they prefer and will eat
anything just to see if they like it. I've even caught them digging up
radishes.
With our ground rain-saturated, the squirrels have become desperate, so
much so they no longer fling themselves from the feeding station on our
deck when we open the door. Instead the little bullies hang on and chatter
at us, threatening us with bodily harm.
I tremble to bring this up again, but cats are very happy to eat squirrels,
especially the tender, wide-eyed baby ones.
