I have been attempting to grow I. missouriensis for several years. I have
two plants that seem to be growing at a snails pace. I have tried more
water, less water, fertilizer with little or no variation in growth rate. I
have heard other species growers complain of the same thing in Canada. I
remember Kathy Millar on Vancouver Island saying that her I. missouriensis
seemed like a dwarf plant due to lack of growth. Yet in their native
habitat I hear they are prolific enough.
Could it be altitude/latitude sickness? The seed came from further north
and higher elevations. If this is true will the plant ever adjust? Has any
one else experienced this with species. It is a common phenomena in
forestry/silviculture.
