Re: I. sibirica, Foretell X's


FORETELL is described in several places as having "limited fertility" but I
tried for several years to get a seed set on it without success.  At least
my plants appeared to have no pollen   It is diploid so using tetraploids
would not be good.

I suppose you could make it or a similar plant fertile by doubling the
chromosomes with colchicine, but this is very iffy with mature plants and
usually results in a chimera.
