As a fairly recent inductee to the ranks of iris lovers, I'd like to add 2c
to Lloyd's remarks - don't be intimidated by the phrase "judges training
classes".
While they are especially geared toward those of us who are training to be
judges,
there is much information for those people who are just interested in knowing
what makes a good garden iris in a particular class (that is dwarfs,
medians, tall
bearded, siberians, Louisianas, etc.). You can attend one or more of those
training sessions without making any commitment to become a judge, and all the
trainers I've had experience with are worthy of recommendation. I believe that
Barbara Schmeider is going to be giving one training session at the convention,
and I'd gladly recommend hers.
