Art,
Knowing where you live would help. If you live in a colder climate your
seeds would not start germinating yet. If they are not up by late April
or early May in a colder climate then you may have problems. But even
then iris seeds could germinate for the next 15 years if you have the
time to wait. I have kept over pots of seeds for a number of years and
have seeds germinate.
If you sow your seeds in pots, use a sterlized potting mix and use the
cold stratification method as Outlined in the World of Iris. This has
worked well for me. If you don't have the WOI then write back for more
detail.
