Dear Art Bern: I had zero germination two years in a row. Finally blame the
bought planting soil, as having incorproated a germination-inhibitor. OR,
that the flats were placed on a deck, instead of on the ground, and thus had
a late freeze kill all germinations. Once I see any germination, I like to
bring the flats indoors under light, when a cold snap comes. This is rough
