Hi Elena--
Our I.japonica is loaded with bloom stalks and buds now. Since our
climate is somewhat similar to you--here is how we grow ours in the
Sierra foothills. It is under our oak trees in dappled shade in a
"woodsy" type soil. It's been there for several years and is growing
fabulously in those conditions. You may give it a little more sun over
in your coastal climate, but some shade would be desirable.
As for Dr. Weiler--you'll enjoy his program. He's a great speaker.
He's a member and past President of the Fresno Iris Society and gives
several programs a year to our club. Enjoy...
