Thanks for the run down on Kochii and albicans.  I suspected that these
weren't true species of beardeds since they weren't listed in The World Of
Irises book.  I don't have the Dykes book, but I'll keep the reference and
take a look as soon as I can locate it.

One of the white irises which I originally described, from which I picked a
stalk about a month ago, had a touch of purple or blue in one of the
flowers.  However, I assume that with I. florentina there is a complete
bluish tint to the flower rather than a random streak here and there.  I'm
betting, as well, that the white bearded I'm seeing is albicans since it
doesn't seem to have a pronounced fragrance.

The purple iris that I've seen is probably of intermediate height, but I
haven't been able to get a really close look at it yet.  Maybe when my
CRIMSON KING blooms, I can rule that choice in or out.:)
