I just can't contain my glee at seeing all of the buds popping out on my
irises. I have the following in bud/bloom:
JEWEL BABY (SDB) - two blooms already come and gone)
THIRD CHARM (SDB) - one bloom, opened today, picked and brought inside
during the rain
MAKING EYES (SDB) - one bud getting ready to open, another still in the sheath
SIXTEEN CANDLES (IB) - in bud, one stalk sent up so far
CRIMSON KING (IB) - two stalks with purple tint to buds
BLACKBEARD (BB) - in bud
I. hexagona, Self cross #595-01 x self (Turley) - one stalk rising above
foliage
DIXIE DEB (LA) - one stalk just breaking out of the foliage
Dutch irises - in bloom
Upon further feeling of the fans this evening, I think that I have
identified a few more "expecting" fans. We'll see in the next week or so.
What I find most unusual is that my siberians (planted lasted fall) are
slowly getting started while my Louisianas (the I. hexagona and the DIXIE
DEB) are already forming bloom stalks! At this rate I'm afraid that I will
have very little, except foliage, to enter in a show this year.:)
-Donald (already dreaming of names for his seedlings from THE POD: IDAHO
EYE, MASHED POTATO, HASHROUND, FRENCH FRY, TATER SALAD, TUBER'S CHILD :) I
don't really expect my first seedlings to be introduction material, but who
knows.)
