HI -- I've recently joined the Iris society and thanks to Dorothy
Fingerhood have learned about the Iris List. I know little about
irises, but love them and keep trying to plant them successfully in zone
4 Delaware county in rocky ground altho fertile soil (the little there
is of it). My old irises bloom well; even after I divide and replant
they bloom the very next season. They are pale yellow and came from an
old farm garden in the neighborhood -- name unknown to me).
Most of my other irises do not bloom at all altho they have great
foliage. Not enough sun is what I'm starting to learn from some of the
messages I've read. Anyone else in my area out there who can give me
some tips?
also -- mistakenly one year I planted siberians and pseudocorus on what
I thought was the bank of my pond. It turned out that the water level
had dropped and I actually planted them in the pond. They grow
extremely well right in the water and bloom profusely every year. Bright
sun all day. Has anyone else planted these in the water and had the
same result? I am also looking for other flowers to grow in or near the
water besides water lilies. Anyone have suggestions?
