Regarding markers made from Venetian blind slats, I have 2 warnings,
based on my experiences. First of all, they got brittle after a
season or 2 of being left out in all kinds of weather (and here in NW
Iowa, I mean that "all kinds" literally). Also, and again this is
probably a commentary on northern winters, I found they tended to
heave due to frost, so lots of them weren't found in their proper
places when spring clean-up time came. In fact, many weren't found
at all. Maybe if you have a different kind of winter (or none at
all) where you live, you'll like the blind markers. I found they
didn't do well for me. Believe me, being Dutch I am not given to
spending money unnecessarily, (buying iris, of course, is a necessity)
but I found the money spent on markers worthwhile.
