In most years I lose less than one percent of my Irises. In a bad
year, I may lose two percent. Last year, I had losses near ten percent,
which was the worst ever. For last year's losses, we must consider that I
had measured (at my site) 22.95 inches of rain in May. I live in one of
those places that often has rain when it is raining no where else. Also, I
lost two varieties to a very unusual cause last year: Lightning Strikes.
Well, that is one thing for which the Hybridizer cannot be blamed!
So far, it looks like one variety will not make it this year. It
appears to have drowned during the deluge earlier this month.
