     I have had good luck raising dwarf and median Irises.  You should not
have any problem with them.  Hopefully, someone from a climate similar to
yours will be able to help you.  There is at least one grower of Medians in
your state.  It is Joni's Dance in the Wind Iris Garden.

     Medians refer to SDB, MTB, IB and BB Irises.  I have not ordered from
this source, so I cannot endorse nor criticize her, but she may be able to
help you in this.  It looks to me like some of the dwarfs may actually be
hardier than some of the tall ones.
