WHEN YOU POP 'EM, YOU SQUASH 'EM. THEY JUST DRY UP AND DO NO FURTHER
DAMAGE..At least the one you pop won't. You have to check every fan. These
are the young borers that have just hatched out and are chewing their way
down to the rhizome. Caught in the fan, they don't have a chance to damage
the rhizome, or reproduce themselves.
