Hi Rick
Just came in from the garden after looking for cutworms. You're right!
I found one but only one. Didn't look through the entire garden just in
front of the house. they look just like a tiny slug and also respond to
touch the same way. I wonder if snail and slug repellent would control
them. I have a box of repellent for slugs and will read to see if it
says anything about cutworms. There must be a chemical out there for
these critters. I don't have the time to dig around the soil looking
for them, and if I did I probably couldn't find them as they are the
same color as the soil. We have a red soil.
Maybe Bill Shear from the department of biology in Hampden could respond
if he reads this note. Or better yet I'll drop him a note.
