...and a small tribute to Lloyd

Tom, I found your tribute to Dr. Lloyd Z. to be very touching indeed.
The thought that we can not only sit at the feet of the experts but
engage in conversation with them is amazing. What have been names in
catalogs or in the AIS Bulletins, names of important and influential
iris people have become electronic friends. Not only Lloyd Zurbrigg,
but others like Clarence Mahan, Rick Tasco, Brad Kasparek, Libby
Cross, Sharon McCallister--and I know there are others of you whose
names don't come immediately, so please forgive me if I've not put
your name here--are no longer just names. Everytime I engage the
list in reading or response I truly feel like I'm hobnobbing with
some of the elite of "irisdom". And one of the neat things is
finding them so personable, helpful, friendly, in short really nice
people! I feel as I did when I attended my, so far, one and only
national AIS convention, where I met a lot of big names and had the
same kind of experiences. It was truly awesome, to use a much
overworked word, to be in their presence, to listen to them as they
discussed the merits and demerits of the iris we saw. That alone
makes attending a national convention worthwhile, incidentally, and I
urge everyone to try to do it if you can afford it. Meanwhile,
thanks again, Tom.
