:Also of interest along these lines is the list from Jim & Vicki Craig of
:Iris And Collectibles. They are introducing a Standard dwarf from I.
:Aphylla breeding named SLICK TRICK, medium blue with slender stalks that
:carry two-four branches and four-eight buds. Blooms with the IB's and
:early TB's; a fall rebloomer in established clumps.

I have a two-year-old clump of SLICK TRICK in my garden; I got this and two
other SDB-sized tetraploids from the Craigs as numbered seedlings (yes, I
begged shamelessly). Most buyers will know, of course, that the aphylla
derivatives are different in appearance from conventional modern medians.
The flower parts are narrower, a little smaller, and more tailored than is
the norm for new SDBs. Still, SLICK TRICK is a wonderful little iris,
splendid color and very refined. I hope they sell all their stock this
year, and that the buyers all hybridize with it!
Tetraploid SDBs are a real breakthrough in median breeding. Their '96
introduction, ARRIVAL, is the only other tetraploid SDB I know of.
