Well, yes, they are both 'pencil line' plics....however, Swerti looks a
step or so away from the species, while Mme. Chereau is obviously a garden
selection with probably two or three generations of forebearers separating
it from its origins. Swerti has 232 years (at least!) on Mme. Chereau. If I
can ever manage to get the Spring ROOTS to the printer I will put a slide
of both on the HIPS website.
The rumor that Swerti has been reclassified as an MTB is not true. The MTB
classification group (Ben Hager, Jean Witt and several others I do not
remember offhand) grew Swerti and decided that it did NOT meet MTB
standards. It is still a TB.
The conclusions of the MTB committee have been reported in 'The Medianite'
and 'ROOTS' Vol. 5 issue 2, Fall '92.
