The first course of action in finding out why losses occur is to find out
what others growers have experienced. Hopefully, by comparing notes, we can
come up with ideas to solve any growing problem.
The problems discussed with losses in no way belittled the hybridizers.
It's difficult, if not impossible to breed for conditions that don't exist
in your area.
Don't think for one minute that I'll give up on trying to grow Blyth's or
Hamblen's irises. They're just too beautiful. I've already ordered a couple
more of each and hope that the information I've garnered from our
discussions will be put to good use in getting them to grow here.
