Re: CULT: lots of water, toughness

Linda Mann writes of her experience with pallida. I. pallida is my best TB.
It is my experience that in our cold and late (if any) spring conditions it
is the first to bloom and curiously opens flowers over a long period of time
being the last as well.

I hesitate to comment on TB's having only the historics and culling those for
survivors but pallida is such a winner that I thought I would speak up for
it.

I. pallida is popular in mixed perennial borders as it is not bothered by the
watering taking place throughout the season for other species in borders.
The foliage is blue-green and remains attractive forever, no dividing is
necessary. If any borers are in my garden, I don't know it and (sorry Linda)
irises don't rot much here.

So - Linda's water observations are quite the same here. I don't have I.
germanica but will try to find it this spring.
