Walter Moores and Dana Brown have provided lists of their favorite black
TBs.
Here in northern Utah BACK IN BLACK has been a strong grower and reliable
bloomer. HELLO DARKNESS is lovely, but has health problems. BLACKOUT is
intensely black, but lacks durability - the flowers start curling up almost
as soon as they open when the hot, dry weather arrives (and like most
blacks, this one tends to bloom later in the season). I am looking forward
to my maiden bloom on BLACK FALLS, a 1996 introduction by Utah hybridizer,
Don Nebeker. This one is a bitone, but Brad Kasperek who introduced it for
Don, claims the falls are the blackest color he has ever seen in an iris.
There's a color picture in the 1996 Zebra Iris Gardens catalog, so if you
have it, you can judge for yourself.

would look striking against the all white background!
