Hello everyone, I am searching for info on a hybridzer named Hillson. =
This is also my Mom's maiden name, hence the interest in this person. So =
far we have learned he was connected in some way with the Sass brothers =
and another hybridzer named Whiting. Some references refer to a Hillson =
N. & Whiting N., Hill-Horace M. and Hillson H. M. & R.C. Hill. He wrote =
articles for the "Flower Grower" begining about 1927. He was involved =
with Hill Iris and Peony Farm Lafontaine, KS. and Maple Valley Gardens, =
perphaps in Iowa. FLORA CAMPBELL, 1940- GOLDEN COCKEREL =
(Whiting-Hillson) 1940- KANSAS SUNRISE 1940- JAYHAWK, 1941 and KANSAS =
INGLESCHE? 1939 are some of his introductions. Growing iris seems to run =
in my family. My Grandmother Hillson used egg money to buy iris in the =
30"s. One of her favorites was TIFFANY , Sass. Mom brought this along =
with others from MO. to KS. in the early 50"s and now it grows in my =
garden. Any help in learning more about him, or other references to =
check out would be appreciated. Please contact me privately if you wish.
