In the early AIS Checklists the names of many of the hybridizers and
introducers were given in a coded form rather than as actual names.
"Hillson" appears to be one of these cases. The 1949 Checklist provides the
following explanation:
Hillson - H.M. & R.C. Hill, Hill Iris and Peony Farm, Lafontaine, Kansas.
(formerly Hill, H.M.)
Apparently, when R.C. Hill joined or replaced his father, H.M. Hill, in
this business he was identified by the code name "Hillson". It is clear,
however, that these people's family name was just plain "Hill".
